Left vs right palm: compare your two hands
One photo of each hand. We measure both on your phone and show where your two hands differ, and what palmists make of a difference.

First hand
Your left or right hand. We work out which.

Second hand
Now the other hand, the same way.

How it works
- Take one photo of each handBoth photos open only in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded.
- A hand model measures each handGoogle’s open MediaPipe hand model runs on your phone, finds 21 points on each hand and tells the left from the right.
- See the differencesHand type, finger lengths and the thumb, side by side. Only a measure that lands in a different band counts as a difference.
How to take the two photos
Photograph each hand the same way: open, palm to the camera, fingers straight and relaxed, the whole hand in the frame with the phone held flat above it. Taking both in the same light and at the same distance makes the comparison fair.
Hold the phone in the hand you are not photographing, or ask someone to help. A timer or a phone stand works too.
What palmistry says about two different hands
- Born with, and madeCheiro reads one hand as what a person is born with and the other as what they have made of it; a difference between them is read as change.Cheiro, Palmistry for All (1916), Part I, ch. XVII: Right and Left Hands
- The Indian customMrs Dale records the custom of reading a man’s right palm and a woman’s left, or whichever hand shows its lines clearly.Mrs J. B. Dale, Indian Palmistry (1895), The Hand to Examine
- Most hands differ a littleNobody’s two hands are mirror copies. Small differences are normal; palmists look for clear ones.
What this tool can’t tell you
What palmistry can’t tell you. Palm lines can’t tell dates, how long you’ll live, your health, whether or when you’ll marry, how many children you’ll have, or how much money you’ll make.Palmistry is a tradition for reflection, not a science. Is palmistry real?
- A difference between your hands is a difference in shape, not a prediction about your life.
- Photos taken at different angles or distances can differ for that reason alone. Take both the same way.
- Our model tells left from right by the look of the hand. If it gets it wrong, you can still compare the two photos.
- Comparing the lines of both hands needs our line scanner, which opens soon on this website.
Questions about this tool
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Both photos open in this browser tab and the hand model runs on your phone. Only the model itself is downloaded from our site, once.
Which hand is the important one?
Traditions differ: many palmists read the hand you write with, and an old Indian custom reads a man’s right hand and a woman’s left. The which-hand quiz explains both.
Why do my two hands come out different?
Everyone’s hands differ a little. If the difference is small and near a cut-off, another photo may flip it; clear differences stay.
Can I compare the lines too?
Not on the website yet: that needs our line scanner, which opens soon. Our Android app compares both hands’ lines today.
